POSITION TITLE: School Counselor (Career Center Coordinator)
CURRENT ASSIGNMENT: Mexico High School
CERTIFICATION: Valid NYS School Counselor Certification
START DATE: September 2026
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid NYS School Counselor Certification
- Strong commitment to children
- Provide individual and group counseling to high school students
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience with CTE programs, work-based learning, or post-secondary advising
- Knowledge of labor market trends, industry credentials, and graduation pathways
- Ability to support students with career exploration, pathway planning, and post-secondary transitions
- Strong commitment to establishing positive relationships with community agencies to support students and families
- Provide support to the Building/District TCIS and Crisis Response Teams
- Strong understanding of Social Emotional Learning and Multi-Tiered System of Supports
- Five years’ experience working with secondary level students preferred
- Such alternatives to the above as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Full time, probationary appointment
- 10-month position
- Salary and benefits as per the MACSFA contract
