POSITION TITLE:             Senior Account Clerk

PRIMARY WORK ACTIVITIES:

Typical activities characteristic of the class.

  • Reviews a variety of more complex financial documents, classifies them and distributes items into a variety of accounts according to prescribed procedures and policies;
  • Posts figures to appropriate accounts, makes all necessary adjustments;
  • Tracks, audits and monitors a variety of accounts and verifies that adjustments are made to correct allocations;
  • Keys forms, form letters, transcripts, invoices, vouchers, records, payrolls, reports, letters, memoranda;
  • Contacts clients, vendors or other agencies to obtain additional information;
  • Provides information orally or in writing in response to inquiries on status of accounts;
  • Processes, sorts, indexes, records and files a variety of control records and reports;
  • May assist in preparation of figures and reports for use in budget preparation;
  • Does more complex payroll transactions or may do payroll for entire department and prepares related reports;
  • Operates calculator, computer terminal, check writing machine and other related office equipment.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF: double entry bookkeeping and business arithmetic; methods used in maintaining financial records and reports; office terminology, practices and procedures;

ABILITY TO: plan, assign, and review the work of others; organize and maintain records and files; analyze and organize data; prepare and maintain records and reports; understand and follow complex oral and written instructions; develop and maintain effective working relationship; make arithmetic computations involving fractions, decimals and percentages

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, specialized background, training and experience.

A.      Completion of 60 semester credit hours which must have included at least 6 credit hours in accounting, math, or closely related field; OR

B.      Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and two (2) years of experience maintaining financial accounts or records by posting figures to appropriate accounts, reconciling debits and credits, processing payroll, processing vouchers or bills, or verifying calculations; OR

C.      Three (3) years of experience as described in "B" above; OR

D.      An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of "A," "B," and "C" above.

NOTE: An associate’s degree or higher in accounting equates to "A" above.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Full-time, probationary appointment
  • 12-month position
  • $45,531 per year
  • Benefits as per contract

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from High School or equivalency diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in clerical position involving keyboarding
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally, and in writing
  • Ability to deal effectively with the public
  • Ability to set up forms, charts, and tabular listings
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to organize and maintain records and files
  • Ability to support purchase order processing and basic budget management tasks
  • Managing sensitive information with a high level of discretion and confidentiality
  • Knowledge of office terminology, practices, and procedures
  • Knowledge of Business Math and English
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Full-time, probationary appointment
  • 12-month position
  • 7:00am-3:00pm, Monday through Friday
  • $42,172.00 per year
  • Benefits as per contract
